Skin Tightening Franklin
Laser skin tightening (resurfacing), also known as fractional skin resurfacing, is the best kept secret to looking young without the cost or downtime of surgery. As we age, the collagen and elastin fibers that keep our skin from sagging or losing volume slowly break down, resulting in skin laxity. Laser skin tightening is a great alternative for those who want to improve their skin’s texture, firmness, and elasticity.
What Conditions can Laser Tightening Treat?
- Erase fine lines and wrinkles of the face
- Smooth and tighten eyelid skin
- Improve crow’s feet around the eyes
- Soften pucker marks and frown lines
- Remove brown spots and splotchy, uneven skin color
- Improve and flatten scars
- Repair smoker’s lines
- Improve skin tone and texture
There are two types of fractional skin tightening: non-ablative and ablative. Results with both ablative and non-ablative skin tightening typically last years. Dr. Fatseas uses the Palomar Icon laser, which is the leader in fractional surfacing technology.
When the non-ablative laser is activated, the laser light actually passes through the skin, leaving the top layers of skin unaffected. This light penetrates deep into the skin where it delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat that tightens collagen fibers and stimulates the body to produce more collagen, making the skin smoother, brighter, and with better texture and tone. Results with both ablative and non-ablative skin tightening typically last years. Dr. Fatseas uses the Palomar laser, which is the leader in fractional surfacing technology.
Non-ablative treatments work over time, generally requiring 4-6 treatments at one month intervals to achieve the desired result.
The advantage to non-ablative fractional tightening is that there is no downtime, with only some redness to the treated area which only lasts for about an hour. Patients can receive a treatment during lunch and return to work immediately without co-workers noticing. For those patients wishing to see significant improvement in their skin-and willing to be patient- but not wanting any downtime, non-ablative skin tightening is a great option.
Ablative fractional laser treatments have remained the gold standard for treating deeper wrinkles and acne scars. Ablative treatments work by creating thousands of microscopic areas where the top layer of skin is treated. Generally only one treatment is required, and the results are dramatic. However, the disadvantage to ablative laser skin tightening is that there is some downtime required, generally 5-7 days. The results rival traditional CO2 lasers, but with fewer complications, less discomfort, and faster recovery.
