Kybella Franklin

Kybella cures the double chinAre you bothered by the appearance of your neck? You are not alone. Almost 7 out of 10 people report feeling self-conscious or embarrassed at their double chin, also known as submental fat. There are many reasons the dreaded double-chin occurs, such as genetics, weight gain and aging. Even people with a normal weight may be bothered by their excessive submental fat. Until now, surgery was the only option to treat this stubborn fatty area.

Kybella is the first and only FDA approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe submental fullness.

What is Kybella and how does it work?

Kybella is a synthetic formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into targeted fat pockets under the chin, Kybella permanently destroys the targeted fat cells while also preventing future fat accumulation. After treatment, the fat naturally eliminated from the body. Kybella targets only fat cells; all other cells and tissue remain unaffected.

“We are really excited to be one of the few practices in Middle Tennessee offering Kybella,” said owner and plastic surgeon Dr. Charles F. Fatseas, of Rejuvenation Plastic Surgery. He explains, “This is a great product that has been heavily tested, proven safe and has a very high patient satisfaction rating. Once patients achieve the look they desire, retreatment is generally unneccesary.”

Am I a good candidate for Kybella?

Most patients desiring treatment for submental fullness can receive Kybella.

What to expect

During your consultation, Dr. Fatseas will discuss your treatment goals, desired results and how many treatments you will likely need. The desired area will be marked, and a cool compress is applied for comfort. Using tiny injections that are virtually unnoticeable, the treatment only takes about 15 minutes. Patients often report a warm sensation immediately after their treatment.

After your Treatment

Swelling to the treated area is common and will resolve over a few days. This is an indication that Kybella is working properly to destroy fat cells. A small amount of bruising may occur. Although results are noticeable, they are not immediate. Kybella works to gradually destroy fat cells, and most people can start seeing results in less than 3 weeks. If an additional treatment is needed, this will be scheduled approximately one month later.
